The Curse of Deaths Door

Kimberly Eisch-Wood

“My sail is Door County and the Great Lakes, meets Pirates of the Caribbean. The sail includes the iconic Jolly Roger and my design of a skull lighthouse (a nod to the Great Lakes pirates: “King” James Jesse Strang and “Roaring” Dan Seavy). The names of ships lost to the Deaths Door Passage are listed (book credit: SHIPWRECKS AT DEATHS DOOR) and the golden hourglass with wings represents the passage of time (one of Pirate Christopher Moody’s symbols). This is my 2nd Sturgeon Bay street art project and I am happy to share my creation with you. Enjoy!”

Reflections

Sarah Wallace

58 W Maple St

“Reflections is a mosaic sailboat installation that explores movement and light through layered abstract landscapes. Inspired by the rhythms of everyday, the passing of time, and how we witness ourselves sailing through life. I caught the “mosaic bug” in 2020. My first project ignited a fire in me for making things with my hands. My work as a mosaic artist is rooted in texture, color gradients, patterns, and flow.”

New Beginnings’

Paige Nordstrom
Sponsored by Quantum Technologies/Located at The Naked Sheep Yarn Shop & Gift Boutique
58 W Maple St

“I am a professional artist based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where I currently teach art courses. My work incorporates a variety of collage and other mixed-media elements. Mixed-media is a versatile style that presents a creative challenge, allowing me to be bold and take artistic risks. Some background on my piece “New Beginnings,” whimsically reflects my passion for nature and painting through the intertwining of organic elements and the expressive use of vibrant colors. This piece also conveys joy and welcoming of new chapters in life.”

Starry Night at Cave Point

Rachel Christopoulos
ARTicipation Studio & Gallery
10 E Oak Street

“”Starry Night At Cave Point” captured the glowing stars and galaxy haze that comes with summer nights in door county. The reverse side captures the sun creeping back over the lake and the blooming of colors it brings. Rachel Christopoulos is an artist based in south Central WI. Her work often features familiar Wisconsin scenery, playing with color and light on the canvas.”

“This is my third installation for the Sturgeon Bay Street Art Project. This piece embodies what summer in Door County is all about: sunshine, blooming flowers, and of course a good glass of local wine.”

Fishermen’s Delight

Annie Larsen
Kitty O’Reilly’s Irish Pub
59 E Oak St

“This year’s project has been such a great opportunity for me to just go and create. I injured my thumb at work and had to do a significant portion of this with the wrong hand. It has been a learning and growing experience for sure. Thanks goes out to so many people!”

The Guilded Sails

Renate Gregory
Stone Harbor Resort
107 N 1st Ave

“The Guilded Sails is made to look like embossed copper. The intricate details of Norse art includes Viking longships, Odin’s ravin, the Viking compass and dragons. These symbols are surrounded by swirling knots and detailed relief work giving this peice a rich ancient feel.

My husband’s family history, deeply rooted in Door County inspired this design. His great grandparents, Nils and Karen Nelson with 6 of their children immigrated to Sawyer (now Sturgeon Bay) from Kragerø, Norway in 1890. To this day my husband and I live in the house his Norweigan grandfather, Clarence Nelson built in 1902.”

Sunset Bay & Pelican Moon

Deb Stroh-Larson
Holiday Music Motel
30 N 1st Ave

“The sailing experience encounters many beautiful skies in Door County. From sunsets to moonrises. I enjoy watching & photographing many unique sunsets over the bay. You can find more of my artwork on Fine Art America website. Instagram & Facebook.”

Impressions

Amy Anderson
Varlets
125 N 3rd Ave

“I am a self taught dot mandala artist who has been painting for about 4 years. I have always been drawn to bold colors. I named this piece “Impressions” because this is my Impression of four pieces of art that have made an impression on me. “The Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh, “Color Study: Squares with Concentric Circles” by Wassily Kandinsky, “Tournee de Chat Noir” by Theophile Steinlen, and a Revel Umbrella ad by Leonetto Cappiello. You can find me on socials as Mad Dots Art.”

Dreaming of the Day

Tracy Robinson
Door County Eye Associates
165 N 3rd Ave

““Dreaming of the Day” began as a simple idea that stayed with me—I kept imagining how it might come to life. I pictured drifting on water, sunlight reflecting, a sense of calm inspired by Door County’s beauty, nature, and art. Working with a new medium brought challenges and plenty of learning along the way. Art has always been a passion of mine, from photography and painting to sculpting and seasonal creations, alongside my occupation as a dog groomer. This piece was especially meaningful to create, using pressed flowers and a dried butterflies set in resin.”

Wisconsin woodland violets

Paula Hare
Plum Bottom Gallery
231 N 3rd Ave

“The Wisconsin wood violet is the official state flower. Native to the upper Midwest, these vibrant, purple-to-white wildflowers bloom across shady forest floors, damp woodlands, and local meadows. They symbolize modesty, resilience, and Wisconsin’s natural heritage.”

Shoreline symphony

Lisa Zeller
Bliss
58 N 3rd Ave

Photo not submitted yet

“Shoreline Symphony is a celebration of the sounds and sights of our Door County shorelines. From the cacophony of the seagulls and herons, to the throaty northern leopard frog, to the buzz of wings, the symphony welcomes us with harmony. Created of glass and natural stone, this piece features an estimated four thousand individually cut tesserae!

After raising three grown children and completing a forty-year career in business management and marketing, I’m excited to have this opportunity to rediscover my artistic side, and I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it!”

Just Bee…

Natalie Townsend
Novel Bay Booksellers
44 N 3rd Ave

“Just Bee… is a quiet reminder to simply be — to be nice, be present, be humble – qualities that often go unnoticed. The bee, often overlooked yet essential, carries these values within its black-striped body, formed from those same types of words suggesting that who we are is shaped by the small, everyday ways we show up in the world. Its wings, crafted from my familiar broken-glass mosaic, meet my first exploration in acrylic painting. The work gently reminds us that simple acts of goodness have a lasting impact, even when unseen, and ripple outward to others — Just Bee.”

Treasure Hunters

Cheryl Maggle (a.k.a. Cherelle)
Door County Candy
12 N 3rd Ave

“This was a fun project – large canvas, but manageable. It’s hand painted & airbrushed, then coated with automotive clear. Living in this area allows for unique inspirations. Almost everybody likes pirates so I combined Cave Point with a little whimsy. Go Goonies! I’ve been involved with art for years. I used to paint a lot of motorcycles and branched out to macrame, wire and soutache jewelry, acrylic pour, wood burning and whatever else I can get my hands on. I also attended Rasmussen College for Digital Design & Animation so, yes, I also like computers and graphic design.”

Twin Sturgeon

Shari Brzinski
ERA Starr Realty
14 S 3rd Ave

“My sail includes sculptures of “Twin Sturgeon” inspired by Chinese mythology and the story of the twin snakes. The twins represent yin and yang, a harmonious and cosmic balance of opposites. The sturgeon that represents day embodies order, structure, and heaven, while the sturgeon that represents night embraces chaos, wildness, and the earth. Neither can exist without the other, and both are constantly changing as day turns to night and night turns to day. I love the idea of reimagining the yin and yang as Sturgeon where their flowing energies create the beauty of balance and peace we find in Sturgeon Bay.”

Northern Glow

Paul Haan
Judy Flores American Family Insurance
26 S 3rd Ave

Photo not submitted yet

“North Glow is built from nights spent along the shoreline of Door County waiting for brief moments of light, movement, and stillness to come together. Using original photographs of the northern lights captured throughout the peninsula, the work focuses less on documenting an event and more on translating the feeling of being there. The glow over the water, shifting color, cold air, and silence all become part of the final piece. These images are rooted in real places and experiences, preserving the energy and atmosphere of nights that often disappear as quickly as they arrive.”

Contemporary Iris Garden

Nicole Herbst
Door County Fire Company
38 S 3rd Ave

“My contemporary iris paintings explore themes of transformation, memory, and impermanence through layered color and expressive form. Moving between realism and abstraction, I use the iris as both a botanical subject and a metaphor for fragility, resilience, and emotional perception. Through texture, scale, and painterly distortion, the work invites close observation and reflects on the shifting relationship between beauty, nature, and human experience.”

In Full Sail, In Full Bloom

Bryce Remy
Sponsored by Open Door Pride/Located at Martin Park
207 S 3rd Ave

“This is my first free form project. This is my version of a stained glass sailboat. The regular sail was replaced with a clear plastic that allows the sun to shine through. This piece highlights the cherry blossoms and cheery atmosphere of Door County.”

The Gaurdian

Jen Polster
Cherry Lanes Arcade Bar
127 N 4th Ave

“I am a Door County artist and musician that works mainly with acrylic paint to create music event posters along with a variety of other creative projects.

Influenced by fantasy and surrealist art, the shape of the sails resembled wings and inspired this painting on the sailboat. For this piece, I used an oil-based enamel paint to withstand the elements and maintain its vivid colors. I worked general to specific creating a variety of textures to help bring him to life and keep it interesting. I hope that viewers will appreciate my interpretation of this mythical beast.”

Along the Shores

Tiffany Baseler

Nicolet National Bank

236 N 3rd Ave

“My work explores the meeting point between stillness and movement—rocky shores, trees, and forest grounding the landscape as water flows in constant motion. Inspired by my love of kayaking along the shores, the piece is created with acrylic paint and sealed with a UV-protective varnish, reflecting both nature and human experience: stability alongside change.”

a day of sailing

Jeffrey Olson

Monticello on Jefferson

715 Jefferson St

“Sailing is a big feature of Door County, thus the sail street art. So I thought I’d depict a full day of sailing from one port in the morning to another as an arrival at night. I liked the contrast of light and dark portrayed on each side of the sail.”
