Winter Season

There are plenty of activities to enjoy in Winter! Visit the Door County Maritime Museum and view interactive exhibits where Great Lakes maritime history comes alive! The Jim Kress Maritime Lighthouse Tower is open with exhibits on 8 floors and great views of Sturgeon Bay!

One of our top highlights is to visit Cave Point County Park to see the beautiful ice formations there!

Take a fat tire e-bike tour on trails, or rent snowshoes or cross country skis and go to Crossroads at Big Creek. Go hiking through Potawatomi or Whitefish Dunes State Parks. YourPassNow is a digital marketplace that allows Wisconsin state park visitors to conveniently purchase their annual state park passes online.

Take a stroll around the waterfront, watching the Winter Fleet come in for winter repairs and storage. At least 18 ships are expected to make their way into port at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding by January 20. While we don’t have anticipated dates, click HERE for a link to all marine traffic. It’ll give you a good overview of where ships are in relation to Sturgeon Bay.

On a cold winter day, schedule a guided ice fishing charter with one of our local captains. Go ice fishing on the Bay of Green Bay.

And don’t forget our beautiful “Bridge Walk”. It’s a 1.2 mile route as you take in the wide-open spaces and the beauty that winter in Sturgeon Bay has to offer. Visit our museums, do some holiday shopping in our three shopping districts and beyond, or cozy up in a restaurant or coffee shop with a warm drink.

Take a drive to our U.S. Coast Guard Station to get an up-close look at of our lighthouses, including the North Pierhead, also known as “Big Red”, one of the most photographed lighthouses in Door County .

We are in the office and ready to help you plan your visit. Please call (920) 743-6246 Monday-Friday 9 am – 4 pm or email us at vacation@sturgeonbay.net.

Many businesses are understaffed. Please be patient and be kind. Thanks for loving Sturgeon Bay as much as we do!
